Vinegar in the washing machine

Sign in to disble this ad
My mom told me to use white vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washing machine. It makes your clothes soft, leaves no scent, preserve the colour better, is way cheaper and it is better for the piping in the washing machine. Any experiences? I just put my towels in with some detergent and vinegar.

I just throw some lettuce and radishes in there too and get a great tossed salad.

But seriously - no I've never tried that. I have heard that white vinegar run through a coffee maker will clean it very nicely.

Never heard of using vinegar that way specifically, but it has a multitude of uses. Even works to cool a sunburn.

I use white vinegar in the wash to take out the sour/spoiled smell you get if you forget to put the wash in the dryer soon enough. It works perfectly.

Though my mom always uses it on our clothes when I was still living at my parents and I can't remember any vinegar smell whatsoever.

Vinegar is awesome. The only thing I've found to cure hiccups.

I never understood the need for fabric softener. I never use it and my clothes are never HARD. Everything that comes out of the dryer is soft enough for me I use white vinagar for some of my metal processes. It's amazing stuff but it ain't goin in my washin machine

Where I live now, we have "hard" well water to wash our clothes and such. If you don't use fabric softener, the stuff gets all stiff and nasty.

Interesting. Maybe next load leave some bass strings in the pockets of your pants and - clean soft laundry and shiny bright strings

Well, it's been a couple hours now, so they must be done, right?

So how are they? Eager, inquisitive minds await the news.

My onions don't need to be kept in. They just don't dare try to get out.

Or better yet, I'll just create a small waterfall and grotto out of it where people can come and bottle it themselves? I'll call it "niagra"?
