I still have some vinyl and my turntable. I will eventually get a preamp so I can hook it up to my receiver.

Cassettes are crap though. (IMO of course)
They simply don't last the test of time. Basically, they were the best portable media at that time. Those days are gone.
I got a few boxes of old cassettes I don't listen too or have replaced with CD's.

My 18 year-old truck has a cassette player that I use from time to time. I have a box of vinyl in my basement.

My dad recently sent me one of those new turntables that looks old school. Sharper Image or Brookstone's. I hooked up some studio monitors to it and went on a vinyl binge. I love the way bass sounds on vinyl-really thick.

I like vinyl a lot. I use my quadrophonic 8-track/turntable as my main stereo, hooked up to a cd changer.

Cassettes are a waste though. They are not-so-great sound quality that only gets worse over time. They were good for recording and portability, that's it.

I still have a Tascam dubbing casstte deck in the rack and several old boxes of vinyl. But no record player hooked up. Not sure I even know where it is? I could listen to my old ATOMIC ROOSTER album if I did.

LOVE vinyl.
HATE cassettes.

First thing I did when I got my car was removed the tape player for a CD player.

Still mostly use my iPod though.

I've been collecting records since 1967 when I was 13. Got my first cassette deck in 1973 and then an open-reel deck in 1975. I still have media for all these plus MiniDisc in addition to the CDs. Rough guess is about 5000 albums and 45s, 1000 tapes. I still listen to them since converting them all to CDs is out of the question.

But I don't record tapes any more and I only buy vinyl when it's something I can't get on CD. I bought a rare LP two years ago, that was the first LP I had bought in about 10 years.

I've got a huge vinyl collection and a good turntable and stylus. but I seem to use them less and less, just lazy. they sound great and the packaging is a prt of the experienece in a way it sin't anymore.

Cassettes: Meh.

Man, no love for cassettes? MIXTAPES!!!!

Also, I kind of miss that "tweeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" sound you heard at the very begining of a new cassette.

Cassettes blow. I still like the sound of needle on vinyl.

^^nice Coltrane collection.
I enjoy collecting vinyl as well.
Started up a collection about a year ago of old and new releases.
The new releases with free mp3 downloads are great!

I've got a medium vinyl collection, mostly classical 78's from my grandparent's generation, 45's and 33's monos from my parent's generation, and 33's stereo from when I was growing up. Herb Alpert, Bad Brains, and Tchaikovsky. Haven't had a turntable for a few years though, Every once in awhile I'll look on ebay for one that will play all 3 formats but haven't pulled the trigger yet. My 80gb mp3 player gets me through just fine.

I work as a DJ so I have an obscene amount of vinyl (2000+), and I love the tangibility of a piece of vinyl. It's music you own. You can phyiscally see the piece of music on the record, its brilliant.
It's not very practical, no, and I'm going to stop buying it and just go down the mp3 laptop route. Someday...
