For those who know, what's the cheapest place to order vinyl stripes (for automotive use)?

When ordering vinyl for automotive, the last thing I would do is go cheap. Not all vinyl is the same. In all honesty, by the time you get to the good vinyl and if you can't DIY, then you're well on your way to a good paint job, which will look better and last longer anyway.

Well, that's why I suggest a local lettering guy, as he can install it right, right there, and then when AmazinGrace realizes stripes are so '07 by way of '76, he can peel them right off.

Vinyl isn't easy to apply yourself?
And what's the difference between vinyl vs. decal?

Depends on the car and the stripe design... he'll be limited by vinyl, so in most cases it'll look tacky, I agree. On things like my Mustang though they can look good (S197 body style). I like my side stripes, and am going to get them changed here from decals to a paint job someday.

Do you have a lot of patience, a real good eye, an inate sense of symmetry and soap and squeegies?

Then, yeah. You're halfway there.

Not to mention seeing straight on body contours. That alone is a bitch sometimes.
Most of the time when you're looking at these stripes for cars they'll interchange vinyl and decal. It's not technically correct, though.

I have all of these and a minor case of OCD (no joke).

OCD? well then honestly, a job like this will throw you into fits, don't do it yourself.

The first contour that falls away from center will throw the center gap off instantly, and if you don't compensate, daymn.

But at the same time, you know if I do it, I'll get it perfect!

Pay for the 3M outdoor type vinyl if you're going to do it.
