Virtual PC/MS-DOS Question!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm running Virtual PC 2007 and I'm trying to install MS-DOS from an .exe file. Does anyone have an idea about how to approach this? Would I have to put the .exe on a CD?

Why not run Dosbox?

It works like a charm on my Mac.

Right there: http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1

Will this allow me to run Windows 3.11?

Never mind I got Windows 3.11 running, thanks for the recommendation! DOSbox looks like a great piece of software!

Tune in next week when we'll be adapting the space shuttle to start up with a hand crank...

lol what on earth

Turns out Windows 3.11 runs great under Windows 7, shocking...

Seriously though, I've been running old DOS games from when I was a kid that haven't worked for years, so it's a nice trip down memory lane. Good ol' Quake...

Out of curiosity, how did you get it running? I couldn't figure out how to get it running so I opted to use DOSBox.

I built a VM with VMware Server and loaded 3.11. Not a big deal. VMware did most of the work.

VirtualBox for me. It's doing great up to now, but I'm considering other options since there is a problem with every file getting the read-only attribute. Permanently.
