I would LOVE to see the British police do the same with some of the idiots arrested here. ESPECIALLY the drunken idiots arrested on a Friday night.

I'd like to point out that the folks, as funny as they may look, are still innocent until proven guilty. A mugshot alone isn't enough to prove guilt, just an arrest. To show folks who are accused of a crime and posing them as criminals for the purpose of demeaning them, or putting them up for public judgement prior to trial seems to me like a set up for legal blowback.

They look messed up, and it looks funny. But when you're arrested, they don't necessarily take mug shots as soon as you get taken in. They may keep you for a hours or a few nights in a jail cell (not prison), which means there is no shower available and probably no personal hygiene outside of maybe a toothbrush. You can be detained for up to 72 hours without being formally charged. I am pretty sure most of us would look just as messed up if they wake you up at 4AM for mugshot after 24 hours without a shower.

Not to let criminals off, or excuse the folks on the webpage, but if there is one innocent person that makes that page, there will probably be some HUGE blowback. And the fact that suspects get a trial by the public prior to a trial by the legal system is just plain wrong.

I've got no problem with how my county runs it's website. It's been very helpful to me, especially if I need to pull a police report from when a drunk side-swiped me.

That's a good point JLive.

However, it does say on the site that they are innocent until proven guilty. And I do believe that all mugshots are public record so this is nothing illegal...it's just that he is putting it out there...

If I was a resident of Maricopa county, I would love this. It's a valuable public service. If you recognize someone as your neighbor, the information you can get here would be invaluable.

Mostly though, alot of these pics are pretty funny. It is getting updated daily with new mugshots...

Here's a real life scenario that can happen.

Some guy goes out on a trip with friends who happen to be holding, but the guy doesn't know it. They get pulled over by a cop, and for some reason the cops decide to search. They find the drugs, and they take the whole lot to jail to await trial. They are all from out of town, and can't get a bondsman because they are out of state and no-one in state will sign for them. So, they have to wait in the jail cell until their trial in 3 days without a shower. Kid will get his mugshot taken one of those days in jail, probably in the middle of the night. The mugshot appears on the website.

The guy goes to trial and he is innocent. He gets off free, and learns his lesson and is determined to clean up his act. Later on he's trying to get a job with an employer, and the employer decides to do a Google search on the kid, and finds his mugshot, complete with bedhead, and decides he isn't going to hire the guy because he thinks he's a criminal, even though the guy is cleared of all charges. The guy then goes through the hassle to get his stuff removed, costing him time and money. But he goes for a job, and lo an behold, his mugshot comes up on a search again. This time through a server that caches archived data. Kid is innocent, and still has to prove his innocence for possibly a lifetime because of a single mugshot put on a website.
