Wahoo! Back to Chicago...

Sign in to disble this ad
I fly out Friday morning for Chicago. This time I will be around until the following Friday.

From Friday through Monday, I will be in Kankakee. From Monday through Friday I will be in Aurora and working in DeKalb.

I remember all the great spots I was directed to last time, so I am looking forward to returning.....Geno's, Malnatis, Palermos, on and on and on.

If anyone in the area wants to meet up, let me know. No Blackhawks game this time around.

Aurora welcomes you! In Aurora, try Walter Payton's or Ballydoyle's downtown!

Keep me posted if we do an Aurora contingent meetup...

Hey, I was born in Aurora.

Went to Ballydoyle's a couple of months ago. Pretty good. Didn't catch any live music though.

I live in a small town in Iowa, my dad grew up in Chicago (family is not longer there) so we visit there whenever we can, and despite the traffic and weird people, and all the other crazy stuff, I still love it there.

I forgot how good Malnati's was. Had me a deep dish pepperoni tonight. Yum, yum.

Yo, Mike. I missed this thread. I'm pretty busy right now, but I should be free Thursday night if that works.

If i could find a way to stay warm walking to the bus, I'd totally live there.

Ha! Thanks, Peyton. I enjoyed meeting you guys as well, let me know if/when you make it up again.

I got Mike into Gino's last time he was here, and we went to a Blackhawks game. A good time was had, for sure.

Incidentally, Mike is as tall as me and built like a lineman. I think the three of us should form the most physically intimidating band ever.

That is on my list for Friday, as is Salerno's on Grand Avenue. After those two, I will be stopping at D'Amato's to grab some fresh bread and cannolis to take home with me.

Why did none of you Chicago area folks tell me about Portillo's? These hot dogs are amazing. If they weren't so freakin' huge, I would eat like 50 of them.

Tomorrow I am going to try Giordano's pizza. I'll see how it compares to Malnati's and Gino's.

Portillo's = The SERIOUS win!

When you go there try a "Combination." (A sandwich with both Italian Sausage AND Italian Beef.) Heaven on a plate!

Instead of Giordanos, try to get to Connie's Pizza. (or maybe Home Run Inn or Beggars) Whatever you do, go for the THIN CRUST pizza!
