i was pleasantly surprised to see an artist of his caliber to just mingle with the crowd and play for free in a totally unpretentious way. i respect him for that.

Moby is cool, plays all the instruments on his CD's. From the CD's I bought I liked his guitar playing. I like Moby's music.

I think Moby is a decent guy from the interviews I have read & heard. He makes a nice target, due to his Michael Stipe looks, soft demeanor and sudden success. Yes, he's a little squirrelly guy.

As far as the ad campaigns, I read he basically had no money, his music was just starting top catch on, but is full of self doubt, had made a couple of CD's before, that were going nowhere, was thrilled that people would actually "want" to use his music and even more thrilled people were going to actually pay for it.

I say more power to him. At least he is one electronic artist that is real musician, such as Square Pusher. Don't be hating on Moby!
You may not like his music, but at least he is playing, writing & recording all pretty much by himself.

That's awesome except that the bar got too crowded and Moby was there...

What beer were you drinking? I reserve judgement on the night until I know this detail?

Cool experience.

It would have been even better if Ahab was playing drums.

I have no beef with Moby, but this would never be a word I would normally see associated with him.

Cool, I guess.

I have a couple of Moby CD's. It's hard for me to get into to them that much. But I'd definitely be stoked to sitting at my local bar and see that unfold in front of me.

You're just jealous because you have bad taste in music.

Whether or not you dig his music doesn't change the fact that he's a talented musician.

Moby was on NPR's "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" recently and claimed that the bass guitar was the sexiest instrument. Listen here (go down to "Not My Job: Moby"): http://www.npr.org/templates/rundown...view=storyview
