Just proof that you can get addicted to anything. I highly suspect that if games hadn't been available this guy would have met a similar end by slightly different means.

The brain has plasticity and will adapt to its surroundings, personally I don't think you necessarily have to be an addict to become one, or to be made one.

BBC News - Computer gamers' brains 'differ'

There was a survey in the US a while back, over 50% of kids aged between 13-17 years old spend 30 hours+ a week on a computer outside school hours. I'd say that was vastly underestimated.

I used to be a gamer, and had many friends who were gamers, but this is extreme. We all got at least average-good grades in school and never had any addiction problems.
