Warning to anyone gigging in Deep Ellum, Dallas--parking boots rampant

Just a friendly warning to any of our TBers gigging in Deep Ellum--a Parking Enforcement company is dishonestly booting vehicles in pay lots...meaning they're booting even people who put the required money in the slot box. Because there is no receipt when one pays, you have 2 choices when booted--cash or credit card.

Apparently, since the new legislation requiring an attendent and receipts for parking to be offered before booting can occur is going into effect in January, this company has ramped up their practice in a last dash for quick easy cash (the police indicate they've been bombarded with complaints against this company lately). The city gave them until January to allow them time to install the necessary equipment and personnel...unfortunately, this company is using it instead to make some easy money before the law goes into effect.

Pretty pathetic, but it stings when your cut of the gig pay won't even cover a bogus fee, so you leave worse off than when you arrived.

Have a group of people all wait for them to show up and put a boot on their vehicle and don't let them leave until they refund everybody's money.

I had a similar thing happen to me in Virginia when I went to visit a friend and stayed overnight. I was told where I was permitted to park as as a visitor and I did. The next monring, my van was gone. They towed it about 12 miles away and would not release it until I paid $125 in cash, which I had to borrow since I had to get home 180 miles back for a gig and could not contest it. The apartment complex owners did not care that this company was running a scam and I guess the police did not care either.

These people should be run out of business.
