Update:
Crikey, I got water seeping up through the basement
cement into my finished basement. Never happened before. The septic
pump is drilling a new hole from the galley, straight up to my lawn. I can
hear it gurgle when the ejector fires off.
The ground is totally soaked, and leaching up into my
basement stairwell, and in the middle of the night,
over the threshhold and into the laundry room.
I have been mopping all night, slept for an hour to awake to
more flooding.
The office missed flooding though the adjacent parking lots were
flooded out. A co-worker got pics, will post tomorrow.
I-95 is closed probably until Friday, we are right at
the area the highway washed out.
PITB all around for sure.
Pawtuxet River down the street from my office has not yet
crested, should today at 20 feet over its banks. It's never
been that high since the water level started getting measured
over 100 years ago.
Fun day all around!

I just ended up renting a jackhammer and making a trench so it all drains properly. Last year it got so bad I had to run a pipe from the pump out to a drainage pond i made in the woods behind my house. I've been on EXTRA sweep duty for these past few days with all of this rain.
No flooding really in my area yet, just normal water rise but then again it's got a lot of places to go here since I live right on the ocean.

| | | | Hey man, I'm in RI too. I live in western Cranston, so I didn't get THAT much water, but my basement got flooded. Thankfully only that. I was in Warwick yesterday... have you seen the mall's parking lot?? It's like a friggen pool! There was a car in the lot, and it was 3/4 under water. Hopefully all the sun that's going to be going on over here will help to dry it up. I saw the river, it's crazy!

Put the lid on the top, cut out the bottom, and you'll be able to scoop out way more water faster than a mop. Plus, there's already a handle built-in. |

hammered. They diverted all the Rte 5 traffic onto Metro Center
Blvd by Fedex, so its all jammed up there. When I crossed
over the airport connector, I noticed the water was way
way over the guard rails on the connector. Still bailing. Quote:

| | | | You know what really amazed me about this is, normally the NE never gets this kind of stuff (especially RI). The sewers must be backing up into where the water is flooding, because whenever I drive by a large segment of water it smells horrible. And it looks like sewage water for that matter. In Knightsville there was a road block because the water had filled up (you might have seen it) the slope ( like this: \ / ) near atwood ave. and george peter's elementary, and some guy tried to drive through it, got stuck, started sinking, and then had to swim out in the water. He's out now, but his car's still there. Some people just lack common sense when they see a road block..

I had to scramble to pull my guitars, basses, and amps out of harm's way, as most of them are down in the basement. The water is down to less than 1/2 inch in the low areas of the floor with the pump going, but it is still coming in. I went through this during the Mother's Day 2006 floods and lost a lot of stuff. Just a little water makes a big mess. |

Thor, sorry about all of that water, man. Hope it gets better soon! |

Sewage treatment plant in Warwick was breached by flood
water, basically it's offline. Craanston and Providence have
a lot of old storm drains connected to the sewer lines, the
Bay is going to be closed to shellfishermen for at least a
month for sure
Down here on the Island the tides were so high they closed
the road, and Mackeral Cove by Beavertail Road got washed
out. What a mess. Quote:

Thor, sorry about all of that water, man. Hope it gets better soon! | Thanks Monet. I better go check and see if I need to bail
more, I was getting 15 gallons out an hour, I am hoping its
down to ten. Kind of keeping score.

Sewers and storm sewers are built around a design for a once in 50 year storm with some sort of safety factor involved, but if this is a once in 100 year storm, I wouldn't be surprised if that is surpassed. But on the bright side, all the new stuff will be built with this storm as a benchmark.

Gonna be a long sleepless night...

Our pump's been going for three full days, but we're up off the water table in a high area so we lucked out. I can't imagine what you're going through.
Keep the faith.
If you need anything, let me know.
