We get to eat the Clones!

Sign in to disble this ad
The FDA has anounced today that it is safe to eat cloaned cow, goat and pig.

So ya howabout that?

It might turn into everybody eating the greatest cuts of meat ever born (and replicated into subsequent and concurrent generations).

Maybe ill side effects, who knows...

I don't see what the hubbub is about.

You eat the meat, you digest it into its fundamental proteins and other building blocks, and use them for yourself. It doesn't matter if I eat a cow, then a cow's twin.

When I eat mushrooms on my pizza, I don't worry about turning into a fungus.

What exactly is the reason for cow cloning?

I haven't really noticed any problematic inconsistencies in any of my cow related purchases.

Is it really cheaper to clone a cow than to just let 'em bang one out?

I'm thinking they want to do it for the purpose of having the exact same perfect cow multiple times; rather than the inconsistoncies associated with "natural" birth.

I'd be more concerned about the side effects of all the chemicals they feed to the cattle that becomes your steak... Buy organic, locally raised beef.

It would be cool if they could genetically engineer cows so that they'd self-slaughter.

Grow to a certain size, then WHAM, massive heart attack or something. When they fall over, you know they're ripe and you can process them, like when apples fall from the tree.

I wonder if they could clone those cows they breed in Japan that they have people hand-massage for hours a day.. I hear a freakin steak from one of those things is upwards of $100.

Actually, I s'pose they'd have to massage the clones too

They're good because of the way they're slaughtered... you know that they've had a happy ending!

I wonder how long theyve been testing the meat for, it used to be 6 yrs testing by the FDA before they would release drugs, food etc. Prob more like 2 yrs now.

Seriously, what's to test?

It's like eating a twin. Nothing wrong with it; genetically identical is all.

Common sense should be able to prevail over 6 years of testing.

Diggler sums it up nicely. If the foods we ate affected our bodies directly, those of us who like tuna fish would grow gills. I've worked with genetic scientists for years, and I've never been able to identify any problem at all with cloned or genetically modified foods.

I for one, can't wait to be able to order the exact same steak over again.
