Webcam help needed

Sign in to disble this ad
I was forced to download the new version of MSN when I logged into messenger yesterday. Well I tried to do a video call and it said that there wasnt enough USB memory or something in a little popup bubble at the bottom of the screen. I didn't think too much of it because I have seen it before, but it still worked fine.

I tried to do a video call, and I could only hear the person I was talking to. They couldn't hear me. And her video quality was horrible. She was all blurry. When I just do the show webcam thing, with no sound, the quality is much better.

I've gone through all the settings, and I don't know what else to do. Any help? Thanks guys!

Well, lets see:
First, I'd do a disk clean-up and a defrag. And get rid of any files you don't need. Clean out your internet history, and set it up so it auto-delete's on quitting. make as much free space on your computer as you can.

Second, update your video drivers (if possible) for your webcam. That's about all I can tell you.

or you could get Skype...

Enough USB memory? Do you have a big number of USB devices plugged in? This is a problem especially if they all go in the same hub.

Otherwise, I'd say the loss of video quality when sound is added is due to your available bandwidth. Quality is lessened to allow for sound to go through at a reasonable rate.

How are you plugging in the webcam? Directly into your computer, or through a hub of some kind?

It is just through the computer, and I have...let me count...keyboard, mouse, interface for recording and sound, and my webcam plugged in in the back. How can I increase my bandwith?

And lol and the girls thing.

Bandwidth is determined by your Internet provider (how much speed it allows you).

Basically, if you pay for a higher level of service, you're gonna get more available speed. There's a good chance you don't want that, though.

No. Unless you can figure out a way to steal internet from, say, a school or something. They have big fat intertubes.

You also try Skype.

Would that solve my bandwith problem though? All I know is that it said that said something like 10 something or another for each hub, and I needed 32 something or another for it to work. But it usd to work, so I dunno what happened.

What it might be is that you have a USB 1.1 or something port, and your camera needs USB 2.0 to work. You can find the info in your Hardware thing on your computer, because it has a magic menu for that.
