The vids do look like some missle spinning out of control.

After seeing videos, I am 95% convinced that it was a rocket malfunction. Having seen a couple of launches after dark from a few hundred miles away, I know how weird the plumes can look as they are lit up by the sun when the rest of the sky is dark, because the plume is high enough. And a spiraling ascending rocket will leave a corkscrew trail which will disperse depending on the air currents, but rocket trails can stay highly visible for a long time and go through color changes as the angle of the sunlight changes.

I'm thinking along the lines of a wayward spiraling missile...as lunarpollen stated.
