Is it weird not to own a TV?

So I don't own a TV. I haven't owned one in two years and I've never had cable. (I don't believe you should pay for TV!)

My last TV exploded while I was high and trying to watch the Departed. I may or may not have been at fault. Regardless I never watch TV anyways, so I just never bought another one. I have a lot of movies but I watch them on my laptop.

But when I tell people I don't have a TV they look at me like I have 3 heads. They just don't understand that I have commitment issues and wouldn't be able to dedicate myself to a season of a TV show.

Anyone else here not own a TV nor have a desire for one?

As you can probably guess it frees up a lot of time for reading. Here's what I've read so far this just year.

I own one for those rare times when I wish to play a console game. I never watch television shows, and most of my gaming is done on the PC, so...

With the advent of every show I could ever watch being on the internet anyways, I can see myself not needing a TV. Except for console gaming (but I don't even have any consoles right now, so that's moot for the time being).

I think I could get away without one. I hardly watch TV at all, except for the occasional Conan. I watch DVDs on my laptop. The only reason I can see needing one is to keep updated when the weather is bad.

In this day and age I would say its not necessarily weird, but kinda naive and stupid to NOT own a TV.

Naive and stupid, how?

I don't own a TV. You can watch whatever you want to watch on your computer and internet. I don't see how I'm missing out.

Again, how do you figure? Can it just not be possible in your reality for someone to not have a use for one? The broad generalizations here are astounding.

But then why start a thread about it unless you are looking for attention/approval....so there are probably a million things I have no use for - but I don't go starting threads on public websites about them!
