Weird thing happening to my computer mice.

This is the second mice that dies this month, both kept their buttons working but none had the laser tracking device working. But heres the weird deal, one was wireles and the other wired.


What can posibly be causing this?

did you try cleaning the undersides?

Nope, ill give it a try, but the mouse is almost new.

BTW i tried both mice on another pc and still had the same problem.

Cleaning it did nothing, but whenever i plug it the pointer disapears and lands on the right lower corner of the screen.

OK, so two mice have the same issue, on two separate computers.... clean the spilled beer off of your mouse pad.
On a serious note - it sounds like the mice are getting dirty. When you say you cleaned the underside, I dont mean just wiping it down, make sure there's no fuzz or debris in the little sensor port in the center of the underside.

Edit - what kind of surface to you have your mouse on?

A mouse pad, thick rubber bottom, nylon fabric carpeting.

Does the fact that both mice died while the computer was on and unatended, the logitech died while i went to pee, it was working on a unigraphix model , went to ppe and when i came back less than a minute later it wasnt working.

The other mouse, an a4tech x7 died while i was at the library studying and the computer was on.

EDIT i just recleaned it, theres absolutely no debris nor fuzz on it, checked it with a led flashlight.

You may want to look at cleaning the USB port that your mice plug into.

Ive hooked it into 3 different ones on this pc, and on another one on other pc, still the same prob.
