You're kidding, right? PETA's holier-than-thou sanctimoniousness made them the biggest pains-in-the-a$$ in recent history. And now they've been revealed as the biggest hypocrites since Tiger Woods. Yes, it DOES make my day!

So the deaths of 20,000+ animals makes your day?

If true, that's terrible!

I don't agree with many of PETA's stances, but pets being killed is not something to celebrate IMO.

Nope, I are not. PETA has done nothing to impact my quality of life or disrupt it. I have no ill will towards them.

After reading the story you quoted, my day is ruined. What a tragedy.

For balance: While I do not support PETA, for many reasons, the website linked is equally extremist and full of baloney. They are a lobby for food businesses that do not want to be regulated by public health and safety agencies. They do not want to be told that mercury is unsafe for pregnant women, for example. Almost every page on their site, and almost every site they are linked with, is dedicated to denouncing consumer protection agencies.

While it is undoubtedly true (and sad) that PETA euthanizes so many animals every year, the full numbers from the published documents tell a slightly different story than the one pumped by the "Consumer Freedom" site.

For example, in 2008: 7,525 animals returned to their owners after spaying or neutering. 93 animals adopted or transferred to other agencies. 155 animals euthanized due to critical medical condition. 2214 animals euthanized for other reasons. So in one year that's 7,773 animals where PETA provided valuable care to the animals, most of whom returned home; and 2214 animals killed that maybe didn't have to die.

PETA are a bunch of animal hating hypocrites. I already knew about death vans and such. I've read stories how they'd take a dog from the owner who believed they'd find a good home and the poor thing goes into the van but doesn't come out alive.

They need to go away...

Seriously. It's similar to the post that said the earthquake in Haiti was a good thing, because it brought attention to Haiti's living conditions.

Not cool.

That's NOT what makes my day. It's the thought that we might finally see these sanctimonious hypocrites go away once and for all! Sorry, I didn't realize I had to be so specific.

This is nothing new. This has been stated a while ago, and everyone knows, even vegetarians/vegans/animal rights supporters, that PETA is a bunch of whack jobs. No one takes them seriously.

What makes you think they'll go away? Like I said, this is nothing new.

Oh, so the 20k animals allegedly put to death were simply necessary collateral damage. Gotcha.

The article you linked to was posted almost a full year ago, so no, that ain't gonna happen.

Also, hoping PETA will just go away is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Many PETA leaders and members are extremists that do more harm than good, but there's nothing wrong with the idea behind them- ethical treatment of animals.

On a somewhat side note, to go along with what Bryan said, is that as far as I'm concerned it's sad that we even *need* a group to lobby for the ethical treatment of any living creature.
