Hi.

No, I wasn't dead.

If one dies in between, that's it.

technically until 20 wks gestation, you're not considered alive. So yes, you're dead before you're alive.

Death assumes prior existence. So no, I was not dead, but simply did not exist.

You did exist before you were born.

First in an orange tree.

Than your father's balls.

If, in fact, we were in some level of existance before this mortal plane.... you can bet we did nothing with the moment because we were too absorbed in what came before that and worried about what came after.

In other words... its 7:00AM, what can I make of today?

there is no "dead" only different states of being and existence. Consciousness is just a bonus of being "alive" but doesn't not designate "existence".

and I hate you for making me think deep thoughts before I've had my coffee!

Sure, materially speaking, we existed before "ourselves" as individuals but I think that is exactly what "prior existence" refers to; the existence of our identity as entities in the universe. To simplify, if you were to build a Lego fort, the pieces to build it existed long before the fort itself but that doesn't mean the fort existed. Once built, it becomes it's own body, independent of all other material. We are the Lego fort .

I'm talking about the point where you start building some sort of consciousness, when those cells start to work together to create a greater life form past being a lump of cellular matter
(man I wish I had some herbage right now...)

I still like explaining to everyone that when we are conceived we are ALL proto-female, well at least during the first six weeks anyway.

There is no female hormone to trigger a female infant, but after 6 weeks testosterone is released to form a male infant.

That's why men have hairy man nipples.
