Western Digital Caves In, Customers Bend Over

Anyone considering buying the new Western Digital My Book World Edition external hard drive would be advised to read the fine print:

*Due to unverifiable media license authentication, the most common audio and video file types cannot be shared with different users using WD Anywhere Access. A list of the non shareable file types can be found here.

Basically, this means that if you want to use this drive to share your own perfectly legal audio and video files with others, they will not let you.

Way to go Western Digital! I will never buy another WD drive again!

Well, that's just stupid. The big question is who the hell are they to say what can get shared and what can not? Stepping out of their field of expertise just a little.


On a lighter note.
I have a WD in my new computer and purchased a "My Book" external HDD. (Not the 1 terra bite world edition).
