TBH, TB has become somewhat of a simple "time waster" for me.

I never really venture much into OT because its either to damn strange and filled with "you had to be there" in-jokes, or its just plain "meh"

Having virtually completed my pedalboard setup (yay!), I really have nothing left to ask in the effects department, and most of the questions are not really in my "style" of effects usage, or even on things like face melting via insane fuzz usage....

Recordings. Hmm.... sometimes the conversation is pretty good, but most of the stuff I listen to is from bands that have broken up, or operated in the 70s..... And you can only talk so much Om/Shrinebuilder..... As for my own stuff...... not really "liked" around here to much, except for a small group, maybe (most people don't dig "Blackend Deathgaze Doomcore Post-Sludge" ). Not that Im bitter or something its just the fact of the population that's here. Funk/jazz stuff has more "followers" than doom/sludge Although TBH.... with my wrist the way it is, Ive prolly put together that big board for squat LOL

Lobby was a good place to ask the questions I needed to a while back, and Im glad its there, but I don't really need to ask those questions anymore, and most of the people there don't seem to need to either. It all answers, no questions in many ways....

So.... I guess the question is: what's left? After the recent "post count" thread im pretty sure there are others in the same "situation"....

Hmm, hard to say, a it seems you're not really into basses themselves(as in you're happy with the one you have), which is probably a good thing...

Take up DB, or at least pretend to and go annoy the old grouchos(and young ones), on that side...

Ya. My SX Jazz 5 is my soulmate. Everytime I think about maybe getting another bass, I just can't justify it at all......

Amps is also out of the question, since I don't really have enough room for a big setup, and I mostly know what I'd want to have anyways...

You could hang in Technique, maybe? Couldn't hurt.

I just use the New Posts button, and reply to any thread that seems interesting.

I like to give advice to people who haven't reached that peak yet. There are hundreds of posters on here every day who have no direction and need guidance.

Take a month off. When you come back there will be a bunch of noobs to harass. JK!

Maybe you just need a break. Take a week, month, or even a year off and see where you are when you're ready to come back, if you come back. We'll still be here since we're addicted.

I've been feeling this a bit lately. As long as I'm in a gear or info-collecting mode then I have lots of things to ask, but now that I'm not, the Basses/Classifieds sections aren't as interesting. I've been spending more time in the other forums lately, even though they're not as busy. Been trying to help people in the Setup and Repair areas, or Technique or whatever. I think it's a normal progression in a way. You come on here, learn a LOT over a period of time, and then you become one of the people who helps the new ones.

I'm with ya and I'm not. Taste is subjective. I've run thorugh a bit of gear (though not nearly what a lot of people here have). In the end, I've found that the best I can offer is quantifiable advice (volume, weight, price, flexibility-type answers). If a guy posts looking for a cheaper killer rig...well, what's a man to do? I love mine and it was pretty low cost, but he might hate it. So I feel i'm somewhat limited in what I can do for a newbie and their usual questions. Besides, it can get frustrating typing out a reasoned response and watching a person go against what most tell him...only to post 6 months later that it didn't work out.

To the OP: I sorta understand your issue. i've got the bass I will probably keep for the forseeable future. I have the amp/cabients that won't be going anywhere for the same time period. I've got one effect pedal (3xfx buzzbomb) that might get rotated out or added on to, but I'm on no quest. So I'm done.

My recording is covered by a cheap setup. I don't need to manage a band. My technique is far from good, but it works for me. I've got nothing to ask a pro (I'm glad they're here, though), etc, etc, etc. But I'm not "done" with OT. It changes daily. It morphs. Yeah, it gets dull at times, but the guys are great and sometime you have to push for the laughs yourself.

If all else fails, buy a blimp. I did and it changed my life.

Mike
