I still haven't got mine yet. I'm 18 and I've tried driving a car, but I feel extremely enclosed in and it scares the crap out of me. My brother didn't get his till he was almost 30.
What about you guys? |

The woman who taught the classroom portion had pretty poor English compounded by the fact she spoke in practically a whisper.
All I remember about the driving "teacher" was that the first thing he told me was that if he was in another wreck he thought they'd fire him. Well, that and the sexual comments he made about my (then 13) neighbor the two times she was outside when he came to pick me up. |

Back then we didn't have to drive with an adult either. No mater what time of the day or night. IIRC, that is. I'm old. |

On the other hand my friend from NY didn't get his until after he moved here at age 26. He was from the Bronx, went to school in Philadelphia, and worked in Philly for several years after graduating from college. After he was getting married and moving to the Philly suburbs that he finally had to do get his license. Until then he either took mass transit, cabs, walked, or some combination of them. It was scary going anywhere with him for several years because it was like driving with a "kid" who just got his license. He just didn't have any experience and it wasn't until a few years went by that I was no longer terrified of him driving.

With the rising prices of gas, it's an even better deal for me now.

My bro didn't get one until he was 45. He biked everywhere building 'em up from the best parts. 60 mi/ a day was nothing to him. Now he never rides his bike!
