While I'm on the matter, can you guys recommend me a few american beers to look out for? I really need to get some of your good stuff, because you're commercial beer is just horrible

Well I would highly recommend this Nectar IPA. Just looked it up. Brewed with hemp. Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA, their Hop Rod Ale is good too. Deschuttes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Deschuttes Inversion. That'll get you started. Go. |

I usually abstain during the week unless I'm out at a restaurant or bar with something special.
Tomorrow, I drink. Was lucky enough to get some of this smuggled back to me from Chicago: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/689/2961 |

The Walkerville Brewery in my town has been re-opened. So far they're selling one style of beer (year-round) which is an oktoberfest, I got a growler of it and I like it. They've also got a fall seasonal called "autumn rye ale", I'm going to be going there on wednesday to get it filled up with that, I've heard it's pretty good. I don't think Ontario's ever going to be at a level similar to the US, but we're certainly improving.

Beeradvocate has a really nice tool for searching breweries and pubs and stores in your area. I've got Quebec pulled up right here for you: http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/directory/9/CA/QC

The probably carry good beer from the states and have a immence choice, and the clercks knows what they talk about when you ask them.

No need to drive down to Escondido just for beer!

Heck, on of the beer shop I like has 797 different beers (biggest selection in Canada) right now and there doesn't seems to be many (any?) from the states.
Brasseurs du monde as mentionned by Jebberz does not carry any worth mentioning.
Looks like I'll have to stay ignorant about American beers. |

Thats a huge fail if ever there was one. All of our beer shops carry not only all kinds of awesome US Brews, but many more from other countries.
