I'm looking to upgrade to something 20" or better. What is the current hotness? |

I bought a Soyo on sale, and I wouldn't recommend them. Freakin stuck pixels out of the box.

You can get one for around $200.00, but an actual TFT LCD can go for much more. Probably around $700.00. |

It wasn't cheap though. |

Samsung SyncMaster 226bw
It has some pretty decent specs.
22"
2ms response time (good for games)
3000:1 contrast ratio.
It can also do 1080P and is HDCP compliant. I like going over to the Apple/quicktime website to check out movie trailers in 1080P. Great picture.
It was in the $300.00 range when I got it. Pretty sure it's been replaced by a new model by now.
Samsung makes some decent, "bang for your buck" products and I can say I wasn't disappointed with this monitor.

I've got two right now; a 226BW (22") and an older 931BF (19"), both with similar specs (3000:1 contrast, 2ms response time) and they're both great.
If you're looking for bang for the buck, Acer makes some good quality stuff on the cheap. Acer on NewEgg
Oh, and NewEgg = Best place for electronics. |

I have the Dells at work.

(With all the different monitors, there are only 3-4 different brands of actual screen that are generally used).

Do you use the screen for movie/DVD watching? Just office work/internet? Given the choice between a fast response time and a wide and unrestrictive viewing angle, which do you prefer?
Also, if you're looking to go up to 1920x1200, you're really looking at a 24" widescreen monitor or higher - the native resolution for 20" and 22" widescreens is 1680x1050 |

It's really nice. I also got it for 70% its regular street price, so that made me quite happy | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
