Ford. All the other ones are government trucks now.

I'd second the Ford. Reliable truck.

You need to be more specific. Do you have a family? Are you going to be towing a lot? Will you actually use this as a truck, or do you just want a large vehicle with 4WD?

I have an '09 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4. I got it at the end of April, when they were more or less giving them away. I got $12k off the sticker. Plenty of room, very comfortable on long drives, averages 17-18mpg. I can get 22-23mpg on the highway. Gobs of power, tows effortlessly, I couldn't be happier with it.

For '09, the Ram had the lowest tow rating of the Ram, F150, and Silverado/Sierra. For 2010, nothing was changed, but the tow rating increased, depending on the configuration of the truck (cab size, 2 or 4 wheel drive, etc), an average of 1800 lbs. There's no official explanation as to why the tow rating was increased, Chrysler just said they re-evaluated the truck. I suspect it's very closely related to the fact that the '09s came with a lifetime powertrain warranty, and the 2010s only come with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

The F150 would have been my second choice, if I didn't get the price I did on the Ram. The Ford lacks the power of the Ram, and gets similar or worse mileage. I prefer the interior layout of the Ram, but the Ford can be optioned with more interior amenities. I have cloth seating, because I use my truck as a truck, I have all sorts of stuff in and out of it, and I didn't want leather to tear. I like the styling of the Ford, and the 4WD is capable. Microsoft SYNC is nice too, I've had it in a few rental cars.

The Silverado/Sierra has some solid powertrains, but that's about it. The interior is pretty spartan compared to the Ram and F150, the back seat in the crew cab is considerably smaller as well. The engine that offers similar power to the Ram 5.7, the 6.0, gets much worse gas mileage. The Silverado is offered as a Hybrid as well, but the price isn't worth it.

The Tundra is a great truck, I like the look a lot, and the powertrain for the 5.7 is solid, but the interior sucks (IMO, way too much ugly plastic), and it costs much more than similarly equipped trucks.

If I had to put them in order, I'd go with

Ram > F150 > Tundra > Silverado/Sierra

But that was dependent on my needs, and the situation at the time.

I've owned a Ford and a Chevy, next one I buy will probably be a Toyota...... Between the 2, the Ford gets my vote.

Working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in my past life, I've driven all of these (and 2008+ models at that)

I can say that they're all very capable trucks. The Chevy and the GMC are the same truck. So it comes down to the Ford, the Chevy, and the Dodge. I'm partial to the GM trucks, but I'm a Chevy guy. Depending on what exactly you're looking for, they're all in the running.

Don't dismiss the Nissan Titan... it's a BEAST.

What exactly are you looking for in a truck?

I've heard that the Titan has an overabundance of problems, much moreso than the other trucks in the class. I was considering the Titan as well, but I've read more horror stories about them than the other trucks I was looking at.

The Chevy and the GMC are the same truck with different trim.

They have been since AT LEAST the late 70's when I was selling both.

Anyone who tells you GMC is a heavier duty truck has no clue what they're talking about. That ended decades ago.

This part of Colorado seems to be Dodge territory. I drove '50, '53 and '77 Fords while at home, and in the last 10 years have owned an '85 Chevy half-ton short box and a '93 Ford F-150. They're all good trucks, so just drive the one you like.

Shouldn't this be in the "Pickups" forum?

I would say Ford if you listed an F250 instead of the F150, but as it is I would say one of the GMs. However, if you want a diesel, Dodge might be the way to go. IMHO, YMMV, and all that crap.

I own a Dodge 1500, but would have preferred the Ford F-150.

Ford and Toyota are two good choices. I drove a Ford F-150 in Maine during two summers. It was about ten years old, had already fallen on its roof twice (once in a tree down a slope), and it never complained about anything we used it for. A very reliable thing.

It's still going strong today, according to what I heard.

Looking for one that will get me thru the snow I live on a dirt road so it does not always get plowed right away plus also heading into work at 1am in a snowfall the roads are not always plowed there have been plenty of times that I have called and said I could not make it in because of road conditions. (I put winter tires on my car this season and it has made a 100% difference) I am single so dont know if an extended cab would be nessesary but do like the idea of the xtra room, dont own anything to tow but never know when you might come across a good deal on a boat, jet ski, snowmobile etc. Would obviously want one with a high safety rating, and some decent power IS the v8 triton a good powerhouse? thanks for asking.

Ford really stepped up their game in resent years, back in the day I would've said Dodge, but Ford is straight up kicking ass.

Plus you already game the other companies a ton of money give some love to the company that didn't steal from us.
