What can be done about terribly insulting posts on TB?

While I do know we can report them to the moderators, I'm not sure they can take steps against each and every insulting post, because they are already really busy moderating this huge site. So, in such a case, is there any way to deal with it? The poster posting such comments is likely to not learn his lesson and spread his filth around TB.

I know that this is the "interwebz" and I need to be less sensitive about such flaming, but I also know that this is TB, which is known for not tolerating this behavior, that is the only reason why this is the only forum I participate in.

Put the person on your ignore list, or just man up and brush it off.

It's easy for people to act big on the internet, and the reality is, is that it's just the internet so really- who cares?

I have only limited experience on TB, but I frequent several forums,
avoiding to feed trolls and ignoring senseless post are usually a great way to go.

Who cares if the offensive poster doesn't ''learn'', it shouldn't keep you from having a good online experience and an equally good day.

Well if the poster is terrible at insulting i don't know why you'd worry about it. Now if they were good at insulting you....

Report, report, report! I know that I have been issued warnings by moderators for simply agreeing with another TBer in the form of a +1. No words were spoken, just a simple +1, and the moderators were on me like white on rice. Other TBers do not hesitate to report, so do the same as they do.

Hey there's a sense of scale for everything, right? :P These posts are insulting with respect to TB. On Ultimate-Guitar.com, these posts would make up about 60% of the whole site

I said in my OP that this is why I'm here on TB.

See if the insults were about my playing, criticisms or opinions, I wouldn't mind. But pointless insults using utterly degrading language by a poster who has completely missed the point of the thread (not even a post, he misunderstands the whole thread) is what I feel bad about.

I know that I need to man up: I acknowledge that in the OP

But maybe some people also need to get civilized, especially on a forum like TB.

I said it before, and i'll say it again.

1) Find out where they live
2) poop in a bag
3) put bag on their porch
4) Burn down their house
5) When they run out from the house they will step in a bag of poo and will have poop all over their shoes.
6) They learn their lesson.

+1 on the man up. this site is real tame and bland compared to other sites I've been on. I've been on Harmony Central and while they don't insult you they do curse and carry on a lot which I do like. Here you can't say the f or c words and I still like this site a lot, *************!!!!!!!!!!!. I am not here to insult anybody. I do read bass and amp threads to find out about the stuff people have and buy. You have to respect the power of the internet and the fact that you are posting to total strangers all over the world. I can't tell you how many posts I typed up and didn't send out of respect for this site and thinking that my tone was too brutal......But again this site is well moderated and tame as far as insults and foul langauge is concerned...........................

To paraphrase the responses I've read from mods on this subject:

The warning system is private. They may have received a warning for the offending item, but barring removal of the material it may still stay up there. Report if you feel a violation of the TOS has occurred.

I know about the offal on other sites! I was on Ultimate-Guitar.com for 3 years. Those 3 ugly years directed me to TB. And as it's more of a tabs site than a forum site, I had vandals post negative ratings on my tabs and the moderators did little to curb them

But yeah I agree most of you guys are really nice. This thread could be an example. If I did this on UG, I'd be roast
