Because for me, it comes down to the people- and Baltimore has far fewer a**holes than DC. | Truth.

I work with people who live (if that's what it can be called) in places so small they have to drive 20 or 30 miles to go to a grocery store, then it's so small the quantity and quality of their foodstuffs is mediocre. Makes no sense.

Makes no sense. | Some of my wife's family live in places like that. They always talk about how they hate it, and how when they come to visit us they just love all the restaraunts and places to eat. When they go to the grocery store to pick something up here they can't believe how nice it is and the selection of meats, seafoods, fresh produce, etc. Yet they won't move even though they could get better jobs and enjoy things more. Makes no sense at all. |

With reference the comment about needing to be wealthy to live in an expensive city, keep in mind that salaries are commensurate with cost of living. Geneva is not a cheap place, and my salary takes that into consideration. The quality of life is excellent. No desire to move. No desire to return to Canada to retire. We will most probably retire in France. We've lived in six cities in four countries. We're throwing out the anchor here.

My current city suits my needs pretty perfectly. Small, manageable, inexpensive, and full of talented and interesting people.

They got it the wrong way around imo.

I've got everything I need or want within 10 minutes of where I live and for other stuff there is world wide delivery available. The wife and I could be pretty well off dwelling in a city - we are both educated and trained in good paying fields - but it comes at too great a cost.
I'll stick with my little 19K town.

The people are cool, it's fairly cheap compared to other big cities in Europe, there's plenty of things going on, a lot of gigs, a lot of venues, a lot of green areas, the only problem seems to be the grey sky and not enough sunshine. |

My house smells just like the zoo,
It's chock full of **** and puke!
Cockroaches on the walls
Crabs crawlin' on my balls!
Ohh, but I'm so clean cut,
I just wanna **** some sluts!
I love livin' in the city!
I love livin' in the city!
Spent my whole life in the city,
Where junk is king and the air smells ******.
People pukin' everywhere.
Piles of blood, scabs and hair.
Bodies wasted in the street,
People dyin' on the streets,
But the suburban scumbags, they don't care,
Just get fat and dye their hair!
I love livin' in the city!
I love livin' in the city!

The saying is that the Europeans work to live, and the Americans live to work.
I saw a movie that took place in Italy. When offered more wine, the woman said "I think I have had enough". The Italian said "In Italy - Enough is barely living".

It's interesting that most the list falls into these categories and is mostly European. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
