What to do about this classifieds issue?

So I had a bass listed in the classifieds and another TBer wanted to trade for his L2000. A few months ago I was supposed to trade him another one of my P-basses for it but he backed out at the last minute after giving me the run around.. I agreed to the new trade and he said he'd ship it out Thursday or Friday. When I informed him that since I work and gig the whole end of the week I wouldn't be able to ship my bass out til Monday or Tuesday. He then informs that he won't be able to ship until then either. I hear from him Monday saying that he still hasn't had time and will try that day or the next.

Early Wednesday afternoon rolls around and I haven't heard from him still so I PM him to forget about the trade and not to ask me to hold things anymore for him since I passed up a bunch of trade deals and f/s offers while waiting for him. I informed him that I would be putting the bass back on the market and I started contacting people who offered to purchase the bass. I got payment for the bass in 20 minutes and told the other guy I would ship out the bass on Monday. The TBer with the L2000 then text messages me saying he shipped the bass already and hoped it wasn't too late. That means he read my PM.

Now I'm backed into a corner and I'm trying to contact the other guy who paid me to see if I could give him a refund. At this point I don't want the L2000, because I could always find another one, due to this other TBers actions. The bass will arrive here in a week and if I send it back I'm out $40 shipping this guys bass back to him.

Opinions?

No I'm not going to accept his bass and keep it for nothing.

God that was totally irresponsible on the first's guys part. I would ask him for the $40 to ship it back, it was his short-sightedness, not yours.

Just ship the bass back to the idiot TB'er. There's probably a 50% chance he hasn't actually shipped the bass anyway. You'll be out $40-ish bucks, but that's the easiest way to make things right, and you've learned a valuable lesson in trusting your gut.

Do you need to sign and accept the bass?

Can you not just refuse to take it? Let it return to sender?

I agree with Relic, that the one guy should pay to have his bass shipped back to him.

This looks to be sorted.
