What to do? E-bay Screw up!

So yesterday i found what I thought was a decent deal on an amp that I've been curious about. The BIN price was good enough for me and I jumped on it. However, when I went to pay for it, I realized that the seller did not take paypal. The problem with this is that I was going to pay with my CC and then pay it off when my tax return came in.

So, I go to 4 different places and attempt to buy a money order with my credit card. I didn't know before hand, but apparently it's common knowledge that stores won't accept a credit card payment for a money order. I tried a few different places, but I had no luck.

So now I still want the amp, but I don't have the spare cash in hand to buy the money order. It's totally my fault for not reading the payment info and I don't know what to do to rectify the situation. Is there any way to pay the average joe with a credit card other than paypal?

I'm just disappointed and I don't want to disappoint the seller either. I've always had good luck with eBay and I don't want to screw up my rating because I jumped too quickly. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Contact the seller and ask him to set up a PayPal account. Let him know your mistake and offer to cover his relisting fees if he won't hold it for you till tax time or set up a Pay Pal account.

Call your credit card company and setup a PIN. Take the credit card to an ATM and you have cash.

I will warn you, most of the time you will get hit with a higher interest rate on the money received.

You can take your credit card to a bank and get cash. But the interest rate is higher. And sometimes there is a limit. Check your paperwork.

Yeah I've checked into that. I guess it's going to be my only option. I've had people back out of deals on ebay on me before and I'd rather pay for my mistake (with the interest) rather than stiff this guy on the deal.

Or you can pay him back the ebay fees and forget about it until you actually have money to spend

The seller may have a paypal account but doesn't want to eat the fees on sales. You can offer to pay the fees for him to use his PayPal if he indeed has one.

Good ideas above. If he will open a Paypal account, I'd definitely offer to overpay him enough that he won't lose a penny on the Paypal fees. Much easier for you if he'll do it - and he may be aware that it will make it easier for him to sell on Ebay as well. Give him a nice sales pitch about how it would benefit him to take Paypal.

If not, hit the bank, get a cash advance on the card, buy a cashier's check with the cash, and mail it. The interest will be there, but if you pay it off promptly, you won't be hurt.
