So my 9 days touring in Canada got turned into around 19 days.

Me too.

There's always that enormous mall with the submarines and stuff.

Yes they do, complete with skating rinks, a roller-coaster and a submarine.

This time of year up there, I'm thinking "drink".

That's about it. Although something you might not want to do for 19 days straight.

Being an Edmontonian, here you go.

West Edmonton Mall is alright (then again, when you live here, it's different). You can spend your entire day in there. There used to be Giovanni's Music (poor bass selection) but they closed, and there's a low end music store there aswell.

Two food courts (do you like Chinese food? Because there's about 5 in that mall), a movie theater, an awesome waterpark, the indoor amusement park, probably a few other things, and a bunch of stores. Jaded? No, not me.

If you're looking for pawn shops that are close together, try Stony Plain Road, it's about 10 minutes from West Edmonton Mall. They don't compare to good American ones, but they're decent.

There's a Long & McQuade in the north end and the south side. I prefer the one in the south. I'd reccomend checking out Whyte ave. You definitely need to go to Avenue Guitars, they're on Whyte. It's the kind of place where you can barely walk because there's so many guitars and basses and amps there. There's an entire wall of amps, and the wallpaper may aswell be that of guitars and basses. It's beautiful. Down the street on Whyte, there's Lilos Music. They've got an excellent collection of vintage instruments there (behind glass, no touching or playing allowed) and a soso selection other other instruments. If you're looking for an accordion, it's your one stop shop!!! Also, be aware that the owner may pull out a notepad and start jotting down your information. He's been doing it for about the past 30 years at least.

The rest of Whyte ave has neat stores (if you're a hipster, it's even better!). If you're there on a saturday, check out the Farmer's Market that's just off of Whyte (Strathcona Farmer's Market). If you do go there, get some food from the Korean guy. They're deep friend wantons, and they're amazing.

If you like improv, check out when improv is going on at the Varscona theater (again, right by the farmer's market).

Pfffbfbfb, what else is there. Fort Edmonton (living museum of Canadian history) is soso during the winter...Uh, there's probably some more.

Oh, and Downtown is a piece of trash, I'd avoid it. It's busy during the day, but there's nothing open at night. If you're going to drink, try Whyte ave at night. Avoid Jasper Ave for drinking. Seems like there's a stabbing every other weekend, and I've had a few run-ins myself.

Ill be at the hotel thats connected to Blues on Whyte for two weeks. I play at Blues on Whyte my second week in Edmonton!

great place and the music shop down the street is nice, Oh, and the chicago pizza shop. I bought my bass wah at that store..the avenue guitars shop. And an evidence cable that I lost later that tour.

I heard that parts of downtown are like south side chicago....I laugh cause its canada man!.."May I rob you , Eh?"

But ooh, boy. A keyboard player im going on tour with calls me 140. Lets just say i had a good time somewhere up there.
