I'll be in Minneapolis on business the weekend of April 4/5. I'd be interested in hearing about any must-see places. Museums, etc.
Also, any must-eat restaurants would be good!! |

There are some great clubs in the downtown area if you are interested in live music. First Avenue (as seen in the movie Purple Rain) and The Fine Line Music Cafe. The Dakota is a jazz club that has national acts and local "progressive" jazz groups late night Fri and Sat. Even more clubs as you move out of the downtown area. There are some good restaurants downtown but you will be dealing with a high tax. So go south on Nicollet Ave and you will get to an area with many restaurants nick-named "Eat Street." Just about any type of food you can think of. My favorite is a little place that does Trinidadian food called Harry Singh's.

I'd definitely like to find out about some music going on while I'm there.
Are there any good music shops? |

Are there any good music shops? | Not much in the downtown area. The coolest place for basses is over in St. Paul called Willie's American Guitars: http://www.williesguitars.com/.
Another one is My Music which is probably 15-20 minutes from downtown: http://www.my-music-store.com/.

Not a huge selection, but they had some pretty cool stuff there when I was there a couple months ago. |

Had dinner at Peter's Diner. Nothing like having some turkey and dressing with apple pie. Cool spot. Good food. |

Oh yhea and if you have not been to MOA might as well check it out. I am not sure who is playing this weekend but The Dakota Jazz club is a nice place to have dinner and listen to some music. Enjoy your stay in the minneapple. I work in the TCF building right across from Petes Diner. Looks like what I have suggested has been mentioned already...+1 on the Dakota.
Here is a link to the Dakota: http://www.dakotacooks.com/pages/spotlight.html#mckay
Too bad your not in town apr 20 -22 a Ray Brown tribute would be fun to see over a good dinner and some fine wine.

I think I'm going to get some breakfast at Hell's Kitchen this morning. It looks interesting. Yeah, I hadn't heard of any of the acts at Dakota's while I'm here. There's a late night group tonight called Battlecat. For $5, I may head over.
Is the light rail the best way to get out to the mall from here? I kept saying I wasn't going, but I may have to go and pick up something for my kids. I think there is a mall/shopping area right here downtown somewhere, isn't there? |
