Enjoy Sydney!

1. Lord Nelson Hotel in the Rocks - they brew their own beer and its great. Head there for a ploughmans lunch and a pint or two.
2. Like Thai? - Longgrain in Surrey Hills / Darlinghurst is amazing. You can't book, but go.
3. Live music? - Head to the Macquarie Hotel in the city for Sunday evenings best free live entertainment. Otherwise the Annandale hotel just outside of the CBD is a good bet for live music. If the Craig Calhoun and the Brothers of Oz are playing thats a plus. Also the Basement in Circular Quay is good for live jazz.
4. If you like good sushi (on the cheap) go to the Nippon Club. If you like superb cheap Thai, go to Spice I Am (conveniently near the Macquarie Hotel). Head to the "Happy Chef" in Chinatown for an excellent Laksa. But one of my fav Aussie restaurants is Longgrain as mentioned above.
5. Head of of town - if you have a car - to the Blue Mountains for a drink at the Hydro Majesstic hotel. If you don't get the ferry to Doyles at Watson's Bay for some fish and chips on an afternoon in the sun (and of course beer). You might also want to get the Ferry to Manley beach for a wander around - but its full of UK tourists.

Bondi and Manly are popular beaches in Sydney but if you want a real Aussie beach head up the coast a little bit more, get as far away from the city as possible and you have some of the best beaches in the world.

No offense to Sydney folk but I much prefer South East Queensland and North Eastern New South Wales to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
(Yes, I have been to all those places) |

The Basement is within walking distance of our hotel so that's a definite stop for some fine music and dining, depending who's performing of course. If you're single, also head out to either 3 Wise Monkeys or Scruffy Murphy's. Both will have a live band playing and your chances of hooking up with a stray lass are pretty good at both coz they're full of tourists in party mode.
I would also recommend the Rugby League Grand Final at the Olympic Stadium but I've been led to believe that's sold out.
BTW are you aware that Daylight savings kicks in on Sunday morning at 2am (put your clock forward an hour). And that speeding fine penalties are doubled on long weekends so don't drive too fast.
