What to do in Tahoe?

Sign in to disble this ad
So as some of you already know, the wife and I will be going to Lake Tahoe in a week. I'm jacked about it; been wanting to go for years!

One problem: I'll be there for five days, and short of riding a garbage can lid down a snowy hill and watch the Raiders play at the resort bar, I have no idea what to do. To make matters worse, I've kinda spent some of our spending money So we'll be on about a $100/day budget. Any suggestions? Local music scene? (I wanna drag my wife to a dive or something at least once while we're out there ) Good places to eat? How much should I expect to pay to give skiing a shot? Or anything else (short of casinos) y'all want to throw at me; I'm all ears!

Just go. No itinerary. You'll figure out what to do when you get there! And Im sure you won't run out of things to do.

Yeah, that's been the plan all along....but the sudden brokeness of myself is leading me to want to lean on a list of "cheap" things to do

I can understand that. I just the spent the last weekend in San Diego. Didnt have too much cash on me. We spent most of the weekend drinking in Oldtown, cuz its a lot cheaper than Downtown.

Ha, we did the exact same thing back in 05. Almost ended up punching an old fat white guy in the face there; he all but followed us around, staring mouth agape and drooling at my wife

Bands. Restaurants. Gambling at stateline casinos. Golf. Mountain Biking. There's so much to do. I didn't even bring up what can be done on the lake although it's kind of cold this time of year.

Check local shows, movies, restaurants. Skip the gambling part.

Know of any decent venues? And we don't gamble.....but I'm mainly looking for specific golf courses, venues, areas, etc. that an essentially broke couple would be looking for

My pappy taught me a basic lesson years ago: only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

So it looks like the consensus is to simply step outside; there's plenty of things to do out there that will pretty much smack me in the face. I only got one more question: Anyone familiar with the music scene? Is there much of one out there? Where to go for some pretty good local acts?

Well just keep your eyes where they belong, and you won't have anything to worry about Mr. Man

Eye, unless youre one of those types, normally stay in the skull. I believe it was his vision/line of sight, that bothered you. Having a hot girlfriend I learned early on not to be bothered by others' wandering gaze, so long as nobody acts out of line.

My fiancee was playing with her coverband on Friday night. I did have to keep my eye on a few drunks who almost got the crap knocked out of them earlier on that evening by someone else who wasnt so keen on their behavior towards a woman he was with. Regardless, I was glad I didnt have to stomp on any drunks. And later I got to tell my girl that a bunch of drunks were staring at her ass.
