And since this is the work week, I've stayed pretty close to the hotel/office so far. I'm terribly disappointed in all of the people who told me the food is terrible. They have no sense of adventure. LOL. Or, perhaps I'm more adventurous than most. Either way, the food's been good at the places I've eaten so far. Found a couple of decent pubs near my office, and my co-workers here have got some things on the agenda for the next night or two to occupy me. One of them even has some musical connections, so we're hitting Soho (I'll be careful, Bill) with a group of her friends one night.
Discovered yesterday that Sunday is the Chinese New Year, so it's looking like Sunday I'll be going to Chinatown for the parade and celebration. Saturday will be London in all its glory. I wish I had another weekend here, though, so I could venture across Mordor to see the lands of the North.

If you are only doing a day in London, then the Natural History Museum and the Tower of London would be my personal recommendations. A trip up and down the Thames can kill an hour too. |

I was going to try to go to Warwick, but I'm pretty limited to where public transport goes since I didn't rent a car. I can barely walk on the correct side of the walkways, so it's probably good I didn't rent a car. They'd have me deported for my driving.

Most drivers are generally stupid, incompetent or selfish, wherever in the world you go. 'Tis human nature.

Figured out the train and the tube, and spent the day exploring until I got too cold, too wet, and too objectionable to endure standing in any more lines. Now I'm lying on the hotel bed trying to figure out what to do for dinner tonight. I'm thinking The Queens Head, perhaps.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your stay.

It's been wonderful...cottage pie, steak and ale pie, a pint or three, darts, karaoke, and cosmopolitans in a pitcher with a straw. Who could ask for more?
If it wasn't so blazin' cold, I could live here.

Of course, if you moved to the south and out of those awful midlands, you may think your own Country was wonderful. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
