I'm not even against facial ink- I have some light purple spirals tattooed in my ears, and I've seen other more subtle/artful/flattering work above the neck- but those big chunky slashy facial marks favored by gutter crusties are just too much, too threatening, too self-hateful, and almost always too crudely done. |

With that said, a lot of the facial tattoos (as bongomania pointed out) are not my cup of tea. However, I would not describe them necessarily as excessive.

Im not a fan of facial tattoos generally, but ive only seen the over the top black tribal stuff and prison tattoos, it just looks dire
Other than that, most things are fine.
Must admit, im with the guys who hate generic tattoos, something as perminent as a tattoo should be custom

However, if you want to work in most industries where tatooing isn't looked upon too kindly and a smart, or more conformist, appearence is required, I would say that anything that can't be covered by a shirt as excessive. |
