Those tattoos that use the belly button to look like a butt hole.

The really intense thick black facial tattoos on some crusty punx is too much for me. I'm not even against facial ink- I have some light purple spirals tattooed in my ears, and I've seen other more subtle/artful/flattering work above the neck- but those big chunky slashy facial marks favored by gutter crusties are just too much, too threatening, too self-hateful, and almost always too crudely done.

Any generic tattoo gotten on a whim with no forethought is excessive.

Any tattoo that truly represents the person who it is on is hip.

+1

With that said, a lot of the facial tattoos (as bongomania pointed out) are not my cup of tea. However, I would not describe them necessarily as excessive.

I've met that guy

Im not a fan of facial tattoos generally, but ive only seen the over the top black tribal stuff and prison tattoos, it just looks dire

Other than that, most things are fine.

Must admit, im with the guys who hate generic tattoos, something as perminent as a tattoo should be custom

Not tattoos, but perhaps excessive for many people's tastes:

Anything that can't be covered by normal business attire.

I wouldn't call anything excessive really. There's things I wouldn't have done, full body coverage, extensive facial tatooing etc, but if people want that sort of thing I wouldn't go around saying it was excessive.

However, if you want to work in most industries where tatooing isn't looked upon too kindly and a smart, or more conformist, appearence is required, I would say that anything that can't be covered by a shirt as excessive.

Actually she does, being the Guiness Book record holder for Person with the Most Piercings. But I'm sure she spends a lot of time going through security.

Way too many variables. Who it is, where/how many/what they are. For instance, Timmy C's giant tat is awesome and suits him perfectly, but I see a cute girl with a giant cat fish on her arm I think it's a bit much.

Not the quantity, but the quality. I've seen one cat paw/butterfly on a round girl's lower back too many.

I don't really believe in tattoos...so I'd say when you stop enjoying seeing others and start getting them on yourself. I like LOOKING at art, not becoming art.
