I'm wondering how mane people here are professional musicians or work in the music industry. I'd like to do music for life, but for now I'm working for an airline.

I'm working on the whole musician career, but in the meantime I'm an IT technician in the Houston Medical Center.

I was going to do the same, but going to school for music made me not want to play -- took all the fun out. Considering that playing professionally is a great deal more stressful than majoring in it in school, I decided to put the kaibosh on it.

Going to Queen's University for psychology right now and I'm looking at possible future jobs as an LEO (OPP, RCMP) to pay my way through grad school until I can hopefully eventually open my own practice as a psychologist.

Professional body piercer, though I'm planning to go back to school fulltime for photography. Hahah, a plan.

I'm sure things will fall into place eventually.

I'll be playing music for life. I'll also have a straight job for life as well. Playing music on the weekends is therapy for the stress of the 9:00 - 5:00 work week. Nothing like beating the crap out of your bass in front of a few hundred people to really work the kinks out!

Wow Earl, pretty smart for the King of Stupidity

I made a living at it for years but since I got married and had 3 kids I need to be at home more often. I don't want to go on the road and have my kids forget who I am............

I still do it part time and gig a lot but I stay local and will not be gone for more than 2 nights in a row (my own personal rule)

I have no job right now! If the last time I earned any money was from playing a show, does that make me a professional musician??? cause that would be sweet! lol

anyways... I am going to the University of Cincinnati working towards two degrees: Computer Engineering and Mathematics.

I've never had the goal of being a professional musician - it's a hobby.

I administer distance education programs for a university - which required all the degrees through Ph.D., so I've been in higher ed for a while both as a student and employee. Not a bad gig at all.
