So im feeling just overwhelmed with junk right now, and to be honest i dont do much with myself. Im a full time student, and i go to class but dont spend nearly enough time doing the work i should be doing. If i mess up this semester, im going to be dropped from my university. My dad (who is funding me) has no clue, and i feel terrible. Im terribly unorganized and messy. From the time i wake up to the time i go to bed, my bed ends up covered in stuff from the day including guitars, clothes, whatever. My room is a mess, my car is a mess. I start way to many projects that i dont end up finishing. I recently did something to really hurt someone i love. There is more, but these are just some of the things that are driving me nuts with myself. I feel like im in need of total reform. Am I being dramatic? What to do??? |

I'm in your same position, though pulling off fairly decent grades, but am slipping in other places. I don't have any good advice, but I can tell you that you're surely not alone.

I since then transfered to another university and have gotten my priorities in order in terms of classes(well, save my Talkbass visits ) and things are going well.
My friend, we all go through this, so I suggest working as hard as you can, then maybe try a transfer and see a new scene. It does help.
Otherwise, find a club in college, or something like that. I joined jazz bands at my uni, and met some of my best friends and it really helps to tone down my stress.

I'm the former president of Habitat for Humanity (I stay on in an advisory capacity), the president of our Marketing Club, the Marketing Director for our Investment Club, and the Student Government's Director of Club Relations.
Between that, a full class load, and a girlfriend, I never sleep.

Here are some suggestions:
- clean your room, if it's clean you are less likely to mess it up daily
- get a organizer and start planning your days, write down EVERYTHING
- get a tutor for classes you are failing
- talk things over with the person you love, then move on (DON'T FAIL OUT BECAUSE OF THIS!)
- study between classes (doing anything else is a waste of time)
You said it, clean up and get organized before it's too late. |

I was just getting ready to post a response, but Jade's post above sums it up quite well.
You realize that you're in a rut and want to do something about it, that's a good sign. Don't just moan about it, DO IT. You feel bad about it, so pick yourself up by the arse and get to work. The hardest part is getting started, once you see some progress, you'll start to feel a little better and use that as a boost to get even more accomplished. Trust me it works, you just have to get started now. Now get to it.
