What do you do when you hurt yourself? I'm talking about small, but painful stuff - nothing that REQUIRES medical attention. Like stubbing your toe or hitting your thumb with a hammer or jabbing your finger with a .011 gauge guitar string. I tend to get embarrassed at my clumsiness, but sometimes I laugh if it's funny enough. |

Definitely option #1 for me. I just soldier on. I've got no time for no stinkin' pain.  |

Combination. Swear and then move on as if nothing ever happened. |
Maybe one word but otherwise no tantrums or blame games....suck it up and drive on... |
I smugly smirk within myself and quietly say, I still feel. :smug: |
My brother in law was helping me move some stuff last week, and I skinned my knuckle on a door frame. Peeled the skin right off of it. It really didn't hurt that bad, so I just pulled the loose flap of skin off and went back to work. Later on we were having beers and he's like "dude! You're bleeding like a stuck pig." It was kinda drippy. So I got a wet paper towel, and we had beers....... |
Ah yes. I have done that so many times I often joke that my knuckles are pure scar tissue. It doesn't hurt until sweat-salt accumulates on the exposed dermis. Or alcohol or acetone gets in it. Electricity often gets a good yell out of me, but I've gotten to the point that I just jerk back most of the time and save my breath. Still friggin hurts, though! |
1) Think about what it will prevent me from doing. 2) wonder why I heal so slowly. |

This, if I'm alone. Out in the public,I act like nothing happened and try to keep a smile with tears in my eyes. |
My day job provides me with many opportunities to cause myself pain. While I politely decline most of them, it'd be rude to turn them all down. Luckily, the regular exposure and desire to continue in my trajectory allow for me to move past most items short of limb loss or compound fractures. More care is typically spent hiding the open, gushing wounds from the public than actually addressing them. |
