What do you drive?

Not sure if there is a forum, if so just delete this one. The old may be dead.

What do you drive? With gas prices finally slowly falling, and me turning 16 in two months, driving is a big deal.

Personally, I am getting my dads 2004 Mazda 3, which I have been saving to put some money into. How about you guys?

16 and getting a 2004 Mazda 3?

Thank your lucky stars. I got a 91 Pontiac LeMans for my first car that was made by Daewoo. The thing fell apart around me and my dad made me buy it from him, I didn't get given anything.

I ended up taking of the "Pontiac LeMans" logo letters and reglued them on the car to spell "PINTO MAC"

Don't waste money high priced stereo gear or rims, take it from a person that had a McIntosh power amp and a high end Eclipse head unit. It didn't sound any better than the Targa amp and Pioneer CD player I had. Save the money in case you need to repair or replace things as they fail.

I wish I would have done the same in hindsight.

I have a 1990 Toyota Camry. Grandfather got it in Febuary of '80. A custom order: manual everything except seat belts, that peerless Toyota AC (you can refrigerate food in it). Still going strong after 18 years, after a new set of CV joints, new water pump and new shocks. gets around 31 MPG, too.

My mom happened to buy a car almost the exact same time that I got my driver's license, so she gave me her 96 Ford Explorer.

Hell of a white elephant, this thing is (almost) literally driving me into the ground.

But boy do I love recessions, I just filled up for less than 60 bucks.

Sounds like a bunch of spoiled children. No offense.

Do any of them have to work a part time job for gas or insurance? Or does daddy pay for all of that too?

Norco Evolve 2005. Only part not modified is the frame, and I get to much harder to reach places than any 4x4 out there.

Thats the difference between me and them. Ones dad owns a huge industry, ones uncle makes 12 mill a year somewhere in Florida, and the other is a local Jockey who was pro for a while. My dad is a computer tech. I worked for my car, maintaining a 4.0, winning various awards. That was always his plan. But yeah, I have some spoiled friends.

I drove my mom's '97 Pontiac Bonneville until I graduated. Now that I'm in college, I just use public transportation. I can't afford to buy a car right now (and living in Boston, there's not much of a point).

1997 Ford Mustang V6

I got it just before my 16th birthday. Still runs great, though the paint is wearing quite thin in some areas. Once I graduate college, hopefully I can get something newer though.

2006 civic si. Its not too good on gas (and takes premium), but it revs to 8000 RPM and is a blast to drive.

Got afew aftermarket mods on it too. Its definately not a gear friendly car though.

2005 Ford Freestyle

I traded my RX8 for it so I could move a full stack again. I miss the speed and cornering, but I like being higher up on the road and being able to fit more than 3 other people in my car... plus I get better MPG in the ford.

I'll probably sell it and all but one bass when I start law school and get a luxury sedan (I miss my old Cadillac Seville) or another sporty car...

My old baby:

My current car:

To swap rims?. Took like 30 minutes and half a beer. Jacked up the car, took off the lugs, tossed on the new rims and tuner lugs and we were in business.

The biggest project ive done on the car was the eibach lowering springs this summer. Even then- Only acouple hours to pull off the suspension, swap springs/ put it all back together.

All said and done- I probably spend more time detailing the car than doing the real "work" to it.
