What do you think of Michael Savage's comments?

I personally find them to be repulsive and disgusting. To put it simply, if I knew where the guy lived, I wouldn't be posting this topic.

He's an idiot and one of the reasons why the world sucks today.

I don't listen to the guy, but the last time I was scanning the local stations and it stopped on him, he was rambling on about a restaurant experience. I fail to see how that kind of commentary can causing the world to suck and you to hate him so much. Does he preach genocide or something between dining experiences?

I think he was always jealous that his brother, Fred, had more success.

Michael Savage is in the entertainment industry. He gets paid for make controversial statements. No one takes him seriously. I don't listen to him because he so far to the right, he comes all the away around to the left.

It seems like the OP would have included whatever comments he's referring to in his post. No one, including me, seems to know what comments are being referred to.

I'd be willing to bet it's about his comments on kids with autism being fakers and their parents being "enablers".

Typical Michael Savage hyperbole and horse$#!t, he does it to get attention, not because he really believes it.

The frightening thing is that there are a) people out there that actually listen to him and think he's right, and b) people out there that are willing to PAY him to open his mouth and spew his garbage.

Not a big fan of his and his network is trying to bail him out.

So, does anyone want to actually refute what he posited, with evidence, rather than having a knee-jerk reaction and condemning the man? I can't speak to autism directly, never having experienced it or known anyone suffering from it, but I remember back when my brother was having trouble paying attention in school and he told me that he was profoundly bored with the subject matter. Guess what? The school recommended that he go on ADHD medication. They couldn't possibly see that it was THEIR failure to engage him and many other students that caused him to act out and not pay attention in class. This is a kid that had amazing ability to focus on tasks for long periods of time, provided it was something he was interested in. Still, we tried the medication, and he was so zonked out that he wasn't the same person.

So when Michael Savage brings up this discussion in relation to the overdiagnosis of ADD, and how we are ignoring the possible environmental factors (over burdened school system with lame-ass 'teach for the standardized test' methods and inattentive parenting), I find myself agreeing with him, even if he's a crass and insensitive prick most of the time.

I don't think any of the people who feed us news are worth much since it's hard to find an objective one.
