i think they are hilarious and aside from maybe a 3 to 4 year window in the mid to late 80's, i cant see them ever to be taken seriously as a legit hairdo.

If you put the effort into growing your hair and wish to cut it, don't put down the scissors half way through.

The story goes that the mullet was invented when a man went into a barbers to have his long hair cut, and the fire alarm went off after the barber had only finished the top.

That or he couldn't afford for him to finish.

Actually, a friend of my dad used to have somewhat of a mullet. He said he did so because he wanted to have short hair in the summer, but liked keeping the hair long in the back to keep his neck from getting sunburnt.

We have a dude on our crew that has a sweet mullet. Go figure, he always has a monster wad of tobacco chew in, he drives a truck that borders on being ready for a Bigfoot monster truck rally, and he makes NASCAR sunday into a holiday at his house.

And that is no exaggeration at all.

edit: And apparently I skipped school on the day we learned to spell exaggerate. Sheesh. 2 edits to fix it right.

When I was a bit younger, I had the cool Mike Patton/ Jason Newsted limp mohawk hairdo. Man.... that do was a chick-magnet. I think mullets are only a step in coolness below the limp mohawk.
