What do you wash your steak down with?

Sign in to disble this ad
Quite a few steak threads on here, but I would like to know what you steak lovers wash yours down with. Does not matter if you are a cube steak guy or a 12 oz. porterhouse guy. What is your favorite beverage to go along with it. I had a ribeye med. rare and washed it down with a Guiness.

Co-op's Super Strength lager. For a high ABV lager, it's very nice. Sort of like a cheap alternative to Duvel, if you will.

Steak needs nothing more than its own tender juices to wash itself down with...

I don't usually like beer with my steak...

Prime rib - champagne

grilled porterhouse - perhaps red wine

grilled strip filet - mississippi muscedine wine (awesome) <-- my favorite!!!

shishkebab - perhaps beer

The rat on a stick here (which they try to say is chicken, I don't care its effing good) goes down well with a cup of Cass beer (korean brand). Probably the closest thing I've had to steak in a while...

If I'm having a donner kebab (not at all a steak) a beer or a can of coke is the way forward.

I drink it with a beer if I'm in the mood but I usually drink it with an ice cold soda or grape juice.

Mead goes with EVERYTHING!!! I once played a gig (a Fanstasy Arts Festival) where we were paid with a keg of mead. Good times.

With steak, I like a nice red wine.

If the steak has any smokey characteristics, I wouldn't object to some form of rauchbier. An American amber lager or bock would typically be my first choice. Brown ales are often a nice touch although some nut brown ales might be a tad sweet for some.
