I remember the nineties were an exciting time for boxing. We had Tyson, Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, that canadian guy whose name escapes me, and Foreman's comebacks. Granted I haven't been following boxing lately, but are there still fighters of that caliber? or has it taken a back seat to that spectacle known as ultimate fighting? |

Remember barrel jumping on ice many years ago?? With all the new "Xtreme" gravity sports, that's died in a similar fashion. |

I also think it wasn't promoted properly. When there was so many sanctioning bodies it was hard to figure out who was champion of what. I just lost interest. |

I know I'll get flamed for this, but boxing to me seems more if a "sport", where 2 guys with the same skillset go punch for punch to see who's left standing. MMA seems more of a barroom brawl where a lucky shot by an inferior fighter can win. (maybe that's the appeal?) I can watch it in small doses, but I guess its just not my thing. |

I love watching Friday Night Fights though.

Plus MMA is just more exciting

Great times. I remember when tyson got knocked out by douglas. We still watch boxing, ocasionaly but it's never a heavywieght unless it was the occasional klitcho fight. There's still some good boxing to be seen though. It seemed like it changed and the middle wieghts was were the action was at. Watch a Manny Pacquiao fight. Good stuff.

If you watch a guy like GSP fight, his game can get so technical it gets boring. Anderson Silva is so good that hardly anyone can land a punch on him, that is because of his technical skill. It takes a while to learn what is technical in MMA because of all the different styles that are used.
