What good foods can you NOT find in your area?

For example there's loads of great Mexican places here. But trying to find good fish and chips, or decent fried fish at all of that matter, I practically have to go on a quest. I have a feeling that this occurs elsewhere like a lack of good Italian or the like.

There could always be more good vegetarian restaurants.

I plan on one day opening up a vegetarian restaurant/pub/venue.

That's the one great thing about living in Houston. We pretty much have all ethnicities here so most all foods are covered.

Might be why we win "fattest city" awards all the time.

Horse meat. It's such a niche market in Canada, that even in T.O. it's nearly impossible to find.

Waco has no Indian or vietnamese restaurants. We use to have the latter but it closed. We have one decent (not spectacular but OK) Thai place and one that leans more towards mediocre. Dallas and Austin both have all of the above though.

Living almost exactly between NYC and Philly, there is NOTHING that I can't find. That's probably about the only advantage to living in NJ

Dont get me started on seal meat. People look at live I've lost it when I ask if they have any seal meat at the meats counter.

Only thing I honestly miss from Chicago is White Castle. I can get anything else here. Used to miss Italian beef, but a couple of years ago a guy from Chicago opened a great hot dog and beef stand.

Some joker here told me to "just get a slider" somewhere if I miss White Castle. Shrinking a burger down is NOT a White Castle. No sir.

People here take food seriously, we have great everything.

Lobster rolls, Striped bass or Bluefish. No good clam shacks within a zillion miles either.

Real New Haven style pizza.
