But you see, I don't have any passion at all for a career in criminal justice. I'd rather be poor and happy than well off and just meh.

I'm in the same predicament as the OP, except I'm a 46 year old with a business and I'd like a Southern city to move my family to, which has a music scene like New Orleans used to have...

Here in Tucson. Although bigger, the music scene in Phoenix is terrible as in non existent. Here there is so much culture and people love concerts, bands, art shows, things of that nature.

What about Vegas? I have often thought in such an entertainment based city a bro could surely get 5 nights of club work per week?
Of course Vegas is in a recession...

I find so many things wrong with this statement. If someone chooses to play for free, that's their right. It isn't their fault that you decided to make a career of music and the market turns to **** because there's no demand for people who play who want to get paid.

He's right tho.
A market that is undermined by volunteers becomes destroyed.
Consider the clubs which are "for profit businesses" whom have no problem profiting off of the amateurs volunteerism.
This has been the problem in Boston forever- too many students too willing to
Give it away!

Don't waste that degree.
Low/no paying gigs will always be around.
Good jobs?
