So what happens?
I've got a big mirror in a wooden frame and its about 5x3 so its fairly large. I'm contemplating burning it for a photoshoot, but, I ask, do mirrors melt when you burn them? Or does it crack, or ???
If you guys have better ideas, let me know.

I'd imagine that it would crack. If it's one of those oddball plastic ones, don't do it.
Safety would be a big big concern but it would probably be cool to coat it with something mildly flammable and try to get reflections and such through the flames at diff angles?
I'm figuring that the wooden framing wont really burn too evenly unless the varnish acts as an accelerant.
Interesting project though! If you do go through with it, please post the pics!

I recently got rid of my bedroom set that I bought for cheap when I got here. I already burned most of it during the winter when I got new furniture. It burned fairly quickly. The mirror was part of the set, so I'm assuming its the same varnish.
A few friends of mine are photography students and I'm propositioning the idea to them right now.
Any ideas what to coat it in? I was thinking of making some gellied gasoline for it but I'm not sure how safe it'd be, since my prior experience with it never involved me putting it out.

If you literally want the glass to burn, diesel fuel is a good place to start. You can mix it down with oils to make it still flammable, but won't burn too quickly.
Gas has potential to explode more than burn. Even if it did burn, it would not burn long. |

You did ask...

+1 to posting the pics when you are done...sounds like its gonna look awesome. |
