What the heck is wrng wth my DVD Burner?

So I'm trying to burn some DVDs of various movies I keep on my PC. But, none of the discs are being read by the computer. I pop them in and they just kind of making a "whirr"ing noise forever, as if the disc is spinning and spinning. Or something...I'm not a computer guy.

Regular cds and CD-Rs read and burn.
Regular DVDs play in the drive. It's only these DVD-Rs that can't be read.I've got the latest drivers and all that good stuff. I just have no idea what's going. I can provide more details if necessary.

Maybe it's not a DVD Burner, just a reader? Have you burned DVD's before?

Same question, did it work before? It's not reading. Rarely you get a bad batch of discs, but I doubt it.

I've burned plenty of DVDs before. Some people I've talked to are suggesting it's bad discs. I've never used this brand before, so that may be the case. I'll try out some others
