What the HELL do you do?!

Sign in to disble this ad
This thread may have been created several times, but I don't care.

MY question is, what do you do? Job? Hobbies? And what do you want to do in the future?

I'll start us off...

I'm still a high school student for two more years. So that's my job.

As far as hobbies, I'm an amateur film maker. Some friends and I make short films when we can, and recently we were chosen to make assembly films for our school.

After high school, my ultimate dream would be to go to USC.

So, what the hell do you guys do?

I play bass, and golf. I also spend way too much money on vinyl.

I go to university and spend my spare time in the unofficial TB chat. I do do other stuff too, but I don't spend as much time on the other random stuff.

I'm back in college with 13 units this semester, working part time developing film, framing blank canvases and the like.
Hobbies not counting music, photography, biking, and making funny faces at people in traffic.
In my future, get al least a Masters in Music and go wherever life takes me.

I fake it, while keeping it real.
I mostly push 'Enter' on a keyboard, then cook, garden and go to the beach when I'm not at work, take pictures and post them on facebook.

im a 25 year old biology bs major (in all fairness, i took several years off in between due to injury, among other things). im doing the second semester of calculus at a community college this fall, and will return to uc santa cruz to finally graduate this spring or summer (not sure). i took the first chunk of calculus several years ago, so its going to be an interesting couple of months...

i play bass a lot, watch too much tv (mostly the news and mma), and go to a pretty good amount of shows; comedy and music (mother effin' dragonforce in a week! [and !!! later this month {good month}]). i still do 2d art, mostly pen and ink, but not as much as i used to. i do the occasional photoshop work, but more for other people who need graphics for websites and other random stuff.

as far as the future goes, im going to continue recording my solo stuff, and will be jamming for the first time with a local guitar player tomorrow, so something may start there. im looking to get a biotech job and eventually hit grad school for a phd in some sort of genetics related field. music will always be there, though, but at this stage, im not looking to work horse it. i miss the stage, but will be going back when i have a solid cd and a band that can play perfect or close to it.

i still like camping, but due to the aforementioned injury, i cant hike like i used to, and mountain biking and backpacking are out of the question. still, i enjoy the outdoors. i can still scuba dive though, which is where i really am at peace. its a beautiful and zen like experience, provided you pick the right location.

I've spent 35 years as a Electronics Engineer, Network/IT Engineer with occasional forays into teaching the same in colleges. I have also owned restaurants and clubs, played bass in bands for the better part of 30 years. Hobbys, I play bass, read everything. I'm pretty mean, or used to be, at chess. I was a Master before I was 16 but haven't played tournament chess in 20 years or so. I raised horses (until recently)and pedigreed cats; Persians (still do, but my GF shows them). I like building things, from Computers and Electronic circuits and gadgets to cars and "home improvements". I've really got a yen to learn to build my own instruments and like everything I take an interest in, I have been studying it for about three years now, in depth. But haven't actually taken the plunge yet.

I am going through some "life" changes and am adapting. I have, over the last two years gone "legally" blind, very rapidly, and can not see many things except close up. REAL close up. So, I am learning braille. Translating all my music into braille from notation and tabulature collected and transposed over the past 30 odd years. Also learning to do mundane things all over again, so in a way, thats my new hobby. As for the future....who knows, I have to rethink capabilities, abilities and finances and life in general. This was not in my master plan.

I just graduated with a B.M. in jazz composition from Berklee. Now I teach and gig, and live in my parent's home. Good times.

I have been a sheetmetal worker for 20+ years now. I'm a "Project Manager", but with biz down I only manage to do my own jobs.

For 16 years I owned and operated a motorcycle shop. I retired it a few years ago. It was part-time after my regular job, but I musta put at least 30 hours in a week.

I like my job. I'm not getting wealthy, but I'm proud of the quality products we fabricate.

I have had too many hobbies to list. Everything from making hand-made tobacco pipes to drag racing motorcycles.
Now I play my drums and work on learning bass.

Cheers, Dave

I like to hit big jumpz with my bike. I play my friend's bass when I go over to his house to play Halo, sometimes.

Masters student in biology. I'm trying to find a band or sit-in gig but nobody appears to be looking for a bassist atm.

I'm enlisted in the USAF and I am going to ship out in February. Until then my classic rock cover band is messing around locally, and I'm working for the Mt. Vernon parks dept.
