What the hell?? Freezer mystery content......

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok,long story short.

A friend of mine has an apartment,in which the refrigerator is furnished by the landlord.

The thing about this refrigerator is: The freezer. The freezer freezes ice to a totally solid state. It has also frozen fish fillets to a totally solid state.

Basically, anything that has been put into this freezer stays frozen or becomes even more frozen.

Here's the mystery part: For some reason, ice cream does NOT stay frozen in the freezer. We have put pints of ice cream in this freezer overnight that were as frozen solid as possible and by morning the ice cream is in a liquid state.

So,what the hell is going on here? Any ideas?

(Thank God for O.T.)

What kind of ice cream?

If it's a flavor with some salt (praline, caramel, and others) that could lower the freezing temperature of the ice cream (so it's melting while other things are frozen). It also could be in a slightly warmer zone of the freezer. Try changing the location...but you may just need to make it colder.

Vanilla,chocolate,various sherbets.......all have melted.

We have tried moving the cartons to various parts of the freezer with no luck.Same with lowering the temp of the freezer.

My question is to why something as dense as fish fillets will freeze easily but the ice cream just melts.

Maybe the freezer doesn't like ice cream.

Ice Cream takes a much lower temperature to freeze than water or meat or something like that.

Hang a thermometer in there and see what it's at.

Source: Let me google that for you

Perzackly. If you want to hold ice cream at a hard-freeze level you're looking at about 0 degrees F, and a little lower is better.

Conversely, maybe the ice cream doesn't like the freezer.

It's only desire is to be completely eaten in a furious rage.

Simple answer; never, ever let any of your ice cream go uneaten. Ever.

I've had this problem for like 2 years and we just solved it a week ago. Your freezer simply isn't cold enough. We had out freezer temp at maximum and it still wasn't cold enough for icecream...until we turn down the temp in the fridge part. Now our freezer freezes icecream!

What happens to a mixture of tequila and lime juice?? I'm thinking you may be able to completely eliminate ice cream from this equation........
