Can you elaborate? I'm considering graduate school over the next year or two, and any insight on the troubles of grad school would be greatly appreciated.

I went to grad school 12 years after I got my undergrad degree, so I was already an "adult" (sic) with a dozen years professional experience while getting my Masters. It put things -- both academia and extra-curricular activities -- into a very interesting perspective.
What kind of fun? Um... well, there was an awful lot of craft-brewed India Pale Ale involved, and an unbelievably torrid wet sloppy XXX-rated nasty freaky affair with an older woman who also happened to be my best friend's wife (!) ...a friend who approved of this affair (!!!) ...and several tours of the midwest & northeast with a crazy avant-jazz comprovisation ensemble, and numerous opportunities to work with a number of name acts and famous folks both as a bassist and an audio engineer, and one high-speed car wreck
...and somehow amidst all the drama I still wound up graduating with honors.
Yeah, grad school was fun. |

For five years, every waking moment was either in lab, working out, or drunk.

The only grad school fun was after I graduated was was able to go back to gigging without lugging my laptop and doing homework backstage and in hotels at the end of the night.
Of course I did go to library school with a 5 to 1 female to male ratio, so that was fun.
Now to find a job, but that's another thread.
