What kind of sandwich is this?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I bought a deli slicer this afternoon. Its a hulking iron monster with a 12 inch stainless steel blade that'll slice your fingers off. It 65 pounds of lean mean slicing machine.

So to celebrate I made sandwiches using the pastrami and block cheeses I bought. I feel like I've eaten this sandwich before but I have no idea where I ate it or what its called.

Ingredients:
Pastrami I put on the griddle and got nice and hot
Shredded lettuce
Swiss cheese (melted)
Cheddar cheese (melted)

Served on Rye toast with spicy deli mustard.

This is my way of showing off my new purchase. Still curious about the sandwich though. It was delicious.

it's an EPIC sandwich is what it is...

seriously though, swap out the lettuce for sauerkraut and you're on your way to a reuben.

That was my initial thought but a proper Reuben has corned beef, not pastrami.

Interesting...is Reuben corned beef the same as the canned stuff (i.e. shredded) or is it whole?

IIRC corned beef is just cured beef (pastrami being cured with the addition of black pepper) regardless of how it's chopped up, but on a sandwhich it's probably sliced.

either way i'm having a FIERCE sammie for dinner tonight.
