Manhattan for me, too. About six months ago (I'm mostly a beer guy).

I used to order Manhattans back in the 80s, when they weren't cool. One time, I remember a bartender replying to my order with: "Sheesh... My grandfather drinks those."

Apple Martini

also...

Fairy from Hell

2 oz Absinthe
1 oz lemonade
2 oz Red Bull
2 oz ginger Ale
1 oz apple juice


1. Mix ingredients together in a martini shaker
2. Pour mixture into a tall glass filled with crushed ice and serve

The Absinthe Minded Martini

1/2 oz Absinthe
3 oz gin
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
1 Orange peel
Dry Vermouth


1. Mix gin and absinthe into a martini shaker and mix.
2. Swirl ˝ oz of Dry Vermouth in a chilled martini glass and pour out remainder
3. Pour shaker contents into glass and float the Grand Marnier on top

Two nights ago I tried mixing Goldschlager with apple juice, in hopes of getting a nice apple/cinnamon effect. It's definitely much better straight.

Last night I had an extra dry Beefeater Martini, straight up, with olives. It was perfect with the half-dozen cherrystones I ordered from the raw bar!

I believe the last cocktail I had was a Yukon Jack Snakebite. The bartender at the club looked disgusted mixing it up, but by golly me likey!!

I cannot STAND the taste or smell of Drambuie or Vermouth. Not sure why, both cause me to gag instantly
